Processing Zone in Karachi as terminal point with 8 collection
points located in production areas. The concept of AEPZ attempts
to take a comprehensive look at products for the purpose of
developing and sourcing the raw materials, their processing
packaging, leading to final exports. Objectives of AEPZ, Karachi
were briefly discussed with the Italian Trade Commissioner.
He was informed that there were 41 plots of 2000 sq. yards each
allotted to stakeholders including exporters, growers and wholesalers.
The participants intended to make this zone as a model having
the latest facilities of grading, processing, packing and storage
of perishables.
While appreciating PHDEB’ s efforts in this
regard the Italian Trade Commissioner said that Pakistan and
Italy had a mutual interest in the horticulture industry, using
Italian technology Pakistani exporters can improve quality and
fetch increasing shares of Italy and overall Europe’s
rich markets. He suggested that exposure visit of Italy should
be paid by exporters in order to see the machinery and equipments
manufacturers in the month of September. He asked the list of
allottee of the zone and names of delegates wanted to visit
Italy along with company profile. The Coordinator of AEPZ promised
to furnish the required information at the earliest.
