Composing A Research Paper Summary In The AMA Format


The American Medical Association developed the AMA format for papers that are written in the Health Science field. The main purpose of proposing a formatting style is so that all of the papers look the same. It is good for grading purposes because it puts every student’s papers on the same playing field. That way they are all graded on their content instead of their design. Plus it makes them really easy to read because they are formatted using a style that is easy to read.

  2. The first step is to acquire an AMA formatting guide so that you will be able to follow it to cite your sources and to make sure that you know exactly what it should look like. You will need to make sure that you cite the sources properly, so having a guide is really important.

  3. Get an example
  4. You will be able to find a good example that will be the best way to understand what your paper should look like. An example can help you understand what information was presented in the summary. You can see how they chose the most important pieces to explain the piece. This type of summary is different than one that you would find on the back of a book cover because it will work to present the case and the results. A reader should be able to read this summary and know the entire gist of your paper. They could read more if they had to.
